Zigzag zinc : The Na + and K + salts of the [Zn(C 5 H 5 ) 3 ] − ion exhibit polymeric 1D and 2D structures, respectively. In contrast, the dizincate [Na(thf) 6 ][Zn 2 (C 5 H 5 ) 5 ] contains discrete [Zn 2 (C 5 H 5 ) 5 ] − ions that consist of two {Zn(C 5 H 5 ) 2 } groups with η 1 (π)/η 1 (π) binding, bridged by a C 5 H 5 ring η 1 (π)‐coordinated to each zinc atom (see structure).
