Chiral microporous lanthanide silicates Na 3 [(Y,Ln)Si 3 O 9 ]⋅3 H 2 O ( 1 ; Ln=Eu, Tb, Er, Ce) have enantiomeric domains that can be discriminated by means of Eu 3+ photoluminescence spectroscopy. In the framework of 1 (see picture), (Si 3 O 9 ) ∞ spiral chains interconnect the {(Y,Ln)O 6 } octahedra, and channels along [100] contain Na + ions and water molecules. Color code: {(Y,Ln)O 6 } yellow; {SiO 4 } green; O red; Na purple; H white.
