Upon thermal evaporation of a mixture of ZnS or CdS with P and Mn 3 P 2 powders, nanotubes of II 3 –V 2 semiconductors (Zn 3 P 2 or Cd 3 P 2 ) morph around metal nanorods that are formed in situ. These thin‐walled nanotubes are single crystals with open ends, circular cross sections, and uniform diameters (see picture).
