“ Waterproof ” coats : Rh/Cr 2 O 3 (core/shell) nanoparticles supported on a (Ga 1− x Zn x )(N 1− x O x ) solid solution are synthesized by an in situ photodeposition method. These nanoparticles (see picture) are used as a promoter for overall water splitting upon visible‐light irradiation ( λ >400 nm). Without the Cr 2 O 3 shell water is formed from H 2 and O 2 in an undesired back reaction.
