Putting two and two together : An ordered mesoporous silica crystal of the cage type with cubic Fm $\bar 3$ m symmetry was prepared by using a gemini surfactant as template. Icosahedral, decahedral, and plate morphologies are discussed (see SEM image). The structure is explained by the occurrence of multiple twinning during the formation of mesostructures.
