Adding corners : A metallacarborane with 15 vertices was prepared by reduction of 14‐vertex carborane 1 to nido ‐carborane dianion 2 and subsequent reaction with [{( p ‐cymene)RuCl 2 } 2 ] to give 3 (see scheme). The key to obtaining successively larger clusters is prevention of redox reactions (such as that to give 4 ).
