Deep and complex : The first representative (see picture) of a new structural class has been isolated from a deep‐rooted filamentous bacterium of the genus Herpetosiphon. Feeding with 13 C and 15 N‐labeled precursors showed the complex biosynthesis to involve shikimate, the polyketide, and the amino acid metabolism.
