A synthetic short cut : Controlled acid hydrolysis of polymeric chondroitin sulfate affords a tailor‐made disaccharidic fragment in good yield. This compound acts as a versatile starting material for the efficient construction of size‐defined chondroitin oligosaccharides (see scheme, n =1, 2, 3, etc.) and precursors of various sulfo forms.
