A new synthesis of iridabenzene species involves the coupling of MeCHCH 2 with iridacycles 1 and 2 . Surprisingly, the structure of the coupling product of the iridacyclopentadienes with propene ( 3 or 4 ) is highly susceptible to the nature of the substituents in the starting metallacycle.
