The linear μ(O,O′) bonding mode of CO 2 has been found for the first time in the magnesium–aluminum compounds [{R 2 Al(μ‐NSiMe 3 )(μ‐OSiMe 3 )Mg(thf) 2 (μ‐O 2 C)} 3 ] ( 1 (R=Me) and 2 (R=Et); THF ligands omitted), which were obtained by bubbling CO 2 through a mixture of AlR 3 and Mg[N(SiMe 3 ) 2 ] 2 in THF.
