An unconventional hydrate promoter , t BuNH 2  , forms a double hydrate upon reacting with CH 4 (see picture). This double hydrate shows different storage capacities for CH 4 depending on the concentration of t BuNH 2 . Based on this phenomenon, a tuning concept for determining the optimum initial concentration of t BuNH 2 is proposed.
