Three legs and four teeth : The tripodal tetradentate ligand bis[(6‐neopentylamino‐2‐pyridyl)methyl][(2‐pyridyl)methyl]amine (H 2 bnpa) was used to prepare a novel {ZnOOH} species. The intermediate of the reaction of [Zn(H 2 bnpa)(OH)] + with H 2 O 2 (see scheme) was characterized by a combination of 1 H NMR spectroscopy and ESI mass spectrometry; further treatment with CO 2 gave [{Zn 2+ (H 2 bnpa)} 2 (CO 4 2− )](ClO 4 ) 2 .
