Central effects : Molecular salts, including Na[W 6 NCl 18 ], (Bu 4 N)[(Ph 3 P) 2 N][W 6 NCl 18 ], and (Bu 4 N) 3 [W 6 NCl 18 ]⋅MeCN, were prepared that contain [W 6 NCl 18 ] n − ( n =1–3) clusters (for an example, see picture of [W 6 NCl 18 ] − ), reminiscent of a fragment of WN. Cyclic‐voltammetric studies indicate the accessibility of species possessing 24–27 {W 6 N}‐based valence electrons.
