The paramagnetic Co III imido complex 1 is stable enough to be structurally characterized by X‐ray diffraction. However, in solution a primary CH bond of the ligand is activated and gives 2 , the product of formal insertion of the imido ligand into a methyl group (see scheme; Ad=adamantyl).
