Unequal partners : One‐electron reduction of a pincer‐type palladium complex 1 results in collapse of the pincer system and formation of a novel bimetallic diamagnetic complex containing a linearly coordinated 14 e Pd 0 center and a nonplanar Pd II unit ( 2 ). The reaction is reversed by oxidation with Ag + or organic halides. The catalytic activity of 2 is investigated for the Heck reaction.
