Fischer carbene complexes have been implied as intermediates in a catalytic tandem process for the synthesis of cyclic compounds, including eight‐membered carbocycles, in excellent yields from alkynols (see scheme). The method was optimized to avoid the use of large quantities of the metallic species, thus overcoming one of the main limitations of Fischer carbene complexes.
