Stable! The first stable salts containing a simple, inorganic cation with an NCl bond are prepared (see picture). They are [NH 3 Cl] + [BF 4 ] − , [NH 3 Cl] + [AsF 6 ] − , and [NH 3 Cl] + [SbF 6 ] − and can be safely prepared from (Me 3 Si) 2 NCl in mixtures of HF and the corresponding Lewis acids and could be used as storable generators for monochloramine gas.
