An unusual supramolecular compound {[WS 4 Cu 4 (4,4′‐bpy) 4 ][WS 4 Cu 4 I 4 (4,4′‐bpy) 2 ]} ∞ (see picture) was obtained from the self‐assembly of a preformed mixed‐metal sulfide cluster, [NEt 4 ] 4 [WS 4 Cu 4 I 6 ]. The product consists of four interpenetrating diamond‐type nets (two cationic and two anionic) and has large open channels that are lined with “receptor sites” for guest iodine molecules. 4,4′‐bpy=4,4′‐bipyridyl.
