The “icosahedral barrier” in carborane chemistry has remained intact until now. Welch and co‐workers have employed a carefully designed synthetic strategy to prepare and structurally characterize the first supra‐icosahedral carborane having only boron and carbon in the framework (see picture), thereby ushering in a new and potentially exciting era in the so‐called “mature” field of carborane chemistry.
