Novel spirobis(radical cation) 1 2+ was prepared to examine the magnetic interaction between the two radical centers. The dication 1 2+ was found to be a robust triplet diradical on the basis of the ESR spectrum, magnetic susceptibility measurements, which indicated ferromagnetic interaction between the radical centers (i.e., J >0), and quantum chemical calculations.
