Starting from germanium( I ) bromide , which can be obtained by preparative co‐condensation, the first polyhedral Ge cluster [Ge 8 {N(SiMe 3 ) 2 } 6 ] (see picture) has been synthesized in which the average oxidation state of all the Ge atoms in the cluster core lies between 0 and +1.
