A highly reactive thorium naphthalene complex , namely 1 ‐[Li(dme) 3 ] was prepared by reducing a Th IV precursor with Li(naphthalene). The complex behaves as a synthon for Th II and reacts with Me 3 SiN 3 to give the thorium silazanate 2 .
