The reactions of [LAlCl 2 ] (L=HC[C(Me)N(Ar)] 2 , Ar=2,6‐ i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 ) with NH 3 or H 2 O in the presence of a 1,3‐di‐ tert‐ butylimidazol‐2‐ylidene as acceptor for the HCl lead to unique species of composition [LAl(NH 2 ) 2 ] (depicted) or [LAl(OH) 2 ], respectively. The by‐product 1,3‐di‐ tert‐ butylimidazolium chloride can be recovered by filtration and recycled to the corresponding carbene.
