Fischer carbenes – a new angle : The insertion of carbon monoxide into an SiC bond of the Fe II complex 1 , which contains a tripodal thiolato ligand (see scheme), yields the Fischer carbene–thiolato complex 2 , whose molecular structure reveals the presence of a bonding interaction between the carbene carbon atom and the thiolato sulfur atoms.
