Self‐cyclization of four HgCl 2 units and four ditopic 1,3‐bis(benzimidazol‐1‐ylmethyl)‐2,4,6‐trimethylbenzene (bbimms) ligands has resulted in the assembly of the neutral nanotube [Hg 4 Cl 8 (bbimms) 4 ] containing two compartments which can accomodate DMF and DMSO guest molecules (see picture). Crystal packing arranges all the tubes into an extended pipeline structure.
