A highly selective sensing ensemble was created through the use of multiple synthetic receptors in solution. Two hosts were selected that had differential responses to tartrate and malate and to the two indicators chosen. Upon using both hosts and indicators in solution, the simultaneous detection of these two analytes was achieved through pattern recognition by using neural‐network analysis (see scheme).
