Naked Facts: Recently, cluster compounds that contain both ligand‐bound and unsubstituted atoms of Group 14 have been described. The general formula M n R m , where m < n (see picture) can be assigned to these compounds. More recent developments in this area, the bonding situation within these compounds, and their possible significance for nanotechnology are discussed.
