Unpairing carbenes with unpaired electrons : Triplet carbenes are prone to dimerization but can be stabilized kinetically. By means of steric shielding and electron delocalization, Tomioka and co‐workers succeeded in preparing exceptionally long‐lived triplet diarylcarbenes, such as 1 and the bromine‐ and trifluoromethyl 2 .
