An unusual coordination mode is proposed for the furan ligand in the complex [(CO) 4 W(η 4 ‐Me 2 Fur)] ( 2 ; Me 2 Fur=2,5‐dimethylfuran), which is produced by photolysis of a solution of [W(CO) 6 ] in the presence of excess Me 2 Fur. The kinetics and activation parameters of its formation from the unstable precursor [(CO) 5 W(η 1 ‐Me 2 Fur)] ( 1 ) are measured by using time‐resolved infrared absorption spectroscopy.
