Aromatic with boron : Two‐electron heteroaromatic compounds 1 and 2 undergo oxidations and reactions with electrophiles (reducing the number of framework electrons by two and four, respectively) under conservation of aromaticity. In contrast, corresponding reactions of the known dianion 3 , a six‐electron aromatic four‐membered ring, lead to loss of aromaticity (R=SiMe 3 ).
