The right moment for polymerization : Preformed helical rods on gold surfaces are shown to control N‐carboxyanhydride polymerization through the helix‐macrodipole interaction (see picture; polymer length depends on the direction of the dipole), and have allowed the successful preparation of densely, perpendicularly bound helical brushes on gold surfaces.
