Insight into the visual transduction process : Details on the structure of the retinal chromophore in rhodospin are crucial to understanding the visual transduction process on a molecular structural level. Exciton‐coupled circular dichroism (CD) spectra of opsin‐bound 11,12‐dihydroretinals exhibit negative bisignate couplets, which indicate that the B and C planes are oriented as shown on the right.
