Radicals or manganaoxetanes –what are the intermediates in the Jacobsen–Katsuki epoxidation (see scheme on the right)? Recent investigations have shown that the mechanism of the epoxidation is strongly dependent on the substitutents of the alkene and on the reaction conditions.
