C 2 S 2 can be detected in a matrix, whereas C 2 O 2 cannot. What about C 2 OS? This question has now been answered with the generation of C 2 OS in an Ar matrix [Eq. (a)] and the characterization with matrix‐isolation spectroscopy. Under matrix conditions C 2 OS is a stable molecule, which most likely exists in the triplet ground state.
