A possible prebiotic RNA synthesis has been experimentally modeled with a 2′,5′‐linked RNA template. Mononucleoside 5′‐phosphoroimidazolides are incorporated after a primer, as directed by the unnaturally linked template (shown schematically on the right). The template linkage is not fully conserved in the product.
