Distorted tetrahedral GaH 4 and tetrahedral BH 4 moieties are the building blocks of the helical, polymeric chains formed by gallaborane at 110 K (schematically shown on the right). There are two distinct types of BH 4 groups: one is involved in Ga(μ‐H) 2 B coordination and the other in unusual monohydrogen bridging of two adjacent GaH 2 units. The structure invites comparison with those of other main group hydrides.
