Diazene was trapped for the first time from solution by coordination to the complex [Fe(PPr 3 )‐(SC 6 H 4 SCH 2 CH 2 SC 6 H 4 S)] (generated in situ) to form 1 in which it is in the trans configuration! This raises the question whether the cis ‐diazene structure postulated for N 2 H 2 in solution is really indispensable to explain the stereoselective cis hydrogenations of multiple bonds by diazene.
