Covalently bound fluorine atoms are effective donors! This is demonstrated by the F 4 O 3 N 1 coordination of the Cs + ion in the complex with the macropolycyclic ligand 1 . Three of the four shortest bonds to the metal ion are Cs + F bonds, and one of these is extremely short (284.2(3)pm).
