Weak thallium–thallium interactions are present in the thallium tetrahedron of the crystalline alkylthallium( I ) compound Tl[C(SiMe 3 ) 3 ], which is easily accessible from cyclopentadienylthallium( I ) and tris(trimethylsilyl)methyllithium. In solution, however, only the monomer of the extremely thermally sensitive compound can be detected.
