An unusual orientation of the bond is shown by the bridging ethyne ligand in complex 1 , which is prepared from [W 2 (OCH 2 t Bu) 8 ] and ethyne: the crystal structure analysis of 1 revealed that the CC bond of this ligand is neither parallel nor perpendicular to the WW bond, but at an angle of 67° to it. Furthermore, the reactivity studies of [W 2 (OCH 2 t Bu) 8 ] with CO, ethene, allene, benzophenone, and thiobenzophenone have provided several tungsten complexes with remarkable structures.
