The anion [HW 5 O 19 ] 7− (depicted on the right) could be an intermediate on the way to highly condensed polyoxotungstates( VI ). The compound K 7 [HW 5 O 19 ] · 10 H 2 O, which contains this anion, was obtained by fractional crystallization from an acidified K 2 WO 4 solution.
