A surprisingly simple, systematic route to the title compounds is achieved by ligand transfer from [Cp 2 TiS 7 NH] to the difunctional sulfanes Sn n Cl 2 ( n = 1, 2). This should provide new impetus to sulfur–nitrogen chemistry. Whereas the structure of S 9 NH (shown on the right) is significantly different from that of S 10 , the structure of S 8 NH resembles that of S 9 .
