The formation of three new metal‐metal bonds results from the addition of CO to the tetranuclear complex 1 . This process invovles the migration of the Rh center coordinatated to the arene ligand in 1 to the open edge of the Rh 3 core to give the complex 2 . The reaction is reversible, and thus the Rh center hops from one site to the other by addition or removal of a two‐electron ligand 1,5‐cyclooctadiene.
