Postulated previously only as intermediates , lithium pentaorganosilicates of type 2 ‐L 4 (L = THF, hexamethylphosphoric triamide), which are in equilibrium with silafluorene 1 and the corresponding organolithium, have now been detected at low temperatures by NMR spectroscopy.
