A new class of solid‐state materials are the hydrothermally synthesized compounds (L 2 M) y [VO x ] (L = bidentate amine, M = Cu or Zn), which combine mixed‐valence vanadium oxide layers with interlamellar coordination complexes. A section of the crystal structure of one example of these compounds with M = Cu and L = ethylenediamine is shown on the right.
