Organometallic “Carbon Chains”: They Just Keep Getting Longer!

Predominantly air‐ and moisture‐stable carbyne derivatives such as 1 have been synthesized by Gladysz et al. Compound 1 contains the longest CC chain in compounds of this type to date. The rhenium centers in 1 are electronically independent from each other, which, however, is not true for the shorter homologues.
