Quantitatively and in one step , the heterocumulenes OCCCO and Ph 3 PCCO form spirobis(cyclobutanedione) A in a double [2 + 2]cyclo‐addition. The bis(ylidic) structure was confirmed by spectroscopy and X‐ray crystallography.
