Unexpected eliminations defeated attempts to synthesize alkylcobaloximes substituted with α‐ and β‐heteroatoms. However, synthesis of the γ‐substituted alkylcobaloxime 1 , a functionalized coenzyme B 12 model, was successful in only a few steps. The key step was an acyloin condensation for the preparation of the dioxime ligand.
