The chloro complex [(N 3 N)WCl] and the phosphanide LiPPhH react to give the complex [(N 3 N)WP] with a terminal phosphido (P 3− ) ligand (shown on the right). The WP bond length in monomeric [(N 3 N)WP] is 2.162(4) Å, virtually the same as the Ta–P bond length (2.145(7) Å) in [(N 3 N)Ta = P(cyclohexyl)]. N 3 N = (Me 3 SiNCH 2 CH 2 ) 3 N.
