Cyclic fullerene–acetylene hybrids , a tris(fullerene)‐ cyclo ‐C 15 ( 1 ) and a tetrakis(fullerene)‐ cyclo ‐C 20 compound ( 2 ), were synthesized by Eglinton–Glaser coupling. Both oligomers fragment under MALDI‐TOF MS conditions to give sequential loss of the C 60 units, which potentially provides controlled access to the hitherto unknown free ions cyclo ‐C   15 +and cyclo ‐C   20 + . X = (EtO 2 CCH 2 O 2 C) 2 C.
